Class 4! OT-7! Platinum Meritorious!

Some cities are blessed with great filmmakers. New York has Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, and Spike Lee. Baltimore has Barry Levinson, David Simon, and John Waters. But the good people of Boston have been deeply unlucky in this regard. Whether it's the city's clannish insularity, the fine-bore segregation of its neighborhoods, or the mix of effete, overeducated latte swillers and "gritty, working-class" knuckleheads, Boston has never translated well on film. But when it was announced that Ben Affleck was directing a film of the Dennis Lehane novel Gone Baby Gone, I was excited. For one thing, the novel was set in Dorchester, the "gritty, working-class" neighborhood where this overeducated latte swiller grew up. More importantly, though, back in 1997, Ben Affleck portrayed perhaps the most note-perfect Bostonian ever put on film, Will Hunting's sidekick Chuckie Sullivan.

Hartson released by Baggies

He was loaned to Pompey in January 2006 and helped them avoid relegation from the Premier League and then last season temporarily joined Fulham as part of the deal which saw Steed Malbranque move to Spurs.

This season Routledge has made only two appearances for Tottenham – both in August against Everton and Derby – and he sees a switch to Villa as the chance to resurrect his career.

Routledge's arrival will give O'Neill the natural right-sided player he has been lacking this season.

Guzan's expected move will mean Villa having four goalkeepers, although Thomas Sorensen is out of contract in the summer and Stuart Taylor has only 17 months left of his deal.

There has also been speculation that O'Neill is undecided whether to make Scott Carson's loan deal permanent from Liverpool.

Marvelous Myrtle Beach: Mild weather, few crowds make East Coast ...

After a two-hour drive north from Charleston, S.C., we arrived at our oceanfront Myrtle Beach hotel after sundown and went directly to the balcony. Spotlights from the hotel made the surf 14 stories below look like silvery ribbons crashing into the narrow beach. The next morning, the view was entirely different.Spread out before us was an expanse of hard-packed sand ---- perhaps 50 yards wide and infinitely long. Even from our perch, the northern and southern ends of the beach were not visible.

"It's not the West Coast," my husband, Jerry, mused, leaning over the balcony. "Who knew?"

Tale of five babies baffles donors

Folks in Beaufort County had become increasingly suspicious of Cantu and her boyfriend, who spoke little English but inspired strangers to reach out to them.

As Cantu's story of expecting quintuplets made its way from Lady's Island to Beaufort and beyond, people who bought gifts or dug through closets for secondhand baby clothes felt duped.

"I had the investigator look her eyeball to eyeball and ask her, 'Why did you do this?'" Sheriff P.J. Tanner said. "And she said, 'I don't know.'"

Tanner was prepared to get a court order forcing Cantu to have an ultrasound, but he didn't have to. She agreed after speaking with a bilingual officer, Tanner said.

The test revealed that Cantu, 37, wasn't having five babies.

She wasn't having any baby at all.

Cornerstone cornerback

He doesn't have to be looking at the quarterback. He does it from route recognition and off of formations. The quarterback thinks he is over there, and this is where he wants to throw the ball. ... Asante pretty much forces the quarterback to avoid his half of the field. So then New England can do whatever else it wants on the other side to make up for things.''

Samuel, a fourth-round pick in 2003 out of Central Florida, credits former teammate Ty Law with bringing him along. Patriots fans gnashed their teeth when Law was let go after the 2004 season. Samuel -- whose first name means ''thank you'' in Swahili -- proved to be the perfect replacement, and now those same fans have the same worries.

''It's been a long journey, a long struggle,'' Samuel said. ''But it makes you a better man and makes you work hard to try to make it to the top.

Porn to spice up cell phones!

More advanced phones with better Web browsers like Apple Inc's iPhone also offer higher quality pictures and video.

"It will be impossible to stop the adult business exploitation of mobile entertainment," said Gregory Piccionelli, a lawyer specializing in adult entertainment at law firm Piccionelli & Sarno.

He predicted that US consumers may soon be offered free porn on mobile phones alongside paid services like live video or "adult dates," a term for prearranged sex with strangers. Pornography has made inroads on cell phones in Europe, where it was a $775 million industry in 2007 that will grow to $1.5 billion by 2012, with the global market reaching $3.5 billion in 2010, according to Britain-based Juniper Research.

A conference being held in Miami this week is devoted to discussing mobile opportunities as the porn industry seeks to find a new driver of growth.

Attacking Richard Gage, AIA, and why it doesn't work - Part 1

The site is laid out nicely, however the commentary is just that, opinionated commentary no different then found in an Op Ed . The commentary is presented to the world as if Mr. Bolo is some sort of authority on a parallel with Richard Gage, AIA and his peers. I guess as an Actor he is just playing the part, it makes one wonder though who pays him to take the stage. Nobles’ rebuttal begins with slide one of Gage’s presentation where he focuses not on the content of slide one so much, but instead tries desperately to find ways in which to convince or warn the reader of Gage’s magical skills of mass hypnosis, or what he calls appeal to authority. Pointing out Gage’s use of the AIA logo and title – which by the way Gage has every right to use, Nobles asserts,"Richard Gage is not engaging in his professional practice here.

Open records bill advances

Spanier wrote in a July 2007 editorial on his Web site, president.psu.edu, that because Penn State receives less than 10 percent of its budget from state funding, it and the three other state-related universities should not be singled out in the bill.

"No other state-aided universities or private universities that receive appropriated funds are included in the legislation as drafted. These other universities receive tens of millions of dollars in state appropriation every year," he wrote.

Penn State spokeswoman Annemarie Mountz wrote in an e-mail that she could not speculate as to what effect the bill would have until it is signed by Gov. Ed Rendell.

According to a press release, universities and state agencies specified in the bill must give information from their IRS Form 990s.
