| Missing candidate mystery deepens in N.H.
The mystery deepened yesterday in the case of a man accused of faking an overnight disappearance in 2006 to attract attention to his flagging congressional campaign. Authorities believe that Gary Dodds may have spent some of the 27 hours he was missing after a car crash hiding in an apartment in an 1805 mansion believed to have a tunnel to the outside. Police say that when they knocked on the door, a man answered but would not let them in. When they got in hours later, the man had vanished. Dodds owned the building, Cutts Mansion in Portsmouth, which also housed his campaign office. Police went to the apartment of campaign staff member Alison Spruce on the afternoon of April 6, 2006, while searchers were looking for Dodds in the snowy woods two towns away. State Trooper Joseph Ebert said he and other officers stood watch until Spruce returned home and let them in.
Market turmoil felt in central Europe
In Poland alone, a country of 38 million, the number of mutual fund investors rose from 2.4 million to 3.3 million between the end of 2006 and September 2007, according to market research firm Analizy Online. About half of all investors started buying within the last two years alone, said Zbigniew Jagiello, chief executive of Pioneer Pekao TFI SA, Poland's biggest mutual fund company. "For many, the greed was so strong that they decided to invest into pure equity funds, expecting at least 20 percent returns," Jagiello said, referring to mutual funds based solely on stocks. "Now they are suffering the downturn and are disappointed, choosing to redeem their money." He estimates that Poles have withdrawn 10 billion zloty ($4.1 billion) from local mutual funds in January amid the turmoil on stock markets, pushing the overall value of the sector's assets down to about 110 billion to 120 billion zlotys ($45 billion to $49 billion).

Drowning, shark sighting on Surf Coast
Victoria has recorded its 10th drowning for the summer after the body of a elderly woman was found at a Torquay beach this morning. Life Saving Victoria spokesman Guy Britt said the circumstances of the woman's death were unclear, but said large swells, high winds and extreme heat had made swimming conditions dangerous at the unpatrolled beach where she was found, near Torquay Sailing Club. A Victoria Police spokesman said the woman's body had been found in the shallows by other swimmers about 11.45am. The spokesman said it was unclear whether the woman, 87, had been swimming before her death and said police would prepare a report for the coroner. Mr Britt of LSV said two men, off-duty lifesavers, had performed CPR until paramedics arrived but the woman was pronounced dead on the beach.

I am feeling glum. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the phrase that goes begging at this point. As someone who will not get excited by any democratic (and sickened when Hillary gets the nomination) - I cennot support Ron Paul's candidacy. I've done way too much research into him, his supporters and the ideologue platfrom on which he runs. Below is my specific reasoning as to WHY that is. I really have concluded that much of what we are seeing is a direct result of the THEOCRATIC mindset in work in America. It's not just that the media is able to get away with being able to subvert THE LAW, which they most certainly have when it came to Dennis' media blackout - but those in power know exactly how to manipulate people based on this covert and sick religious militancy people in the United States subscribed to.
Ledger admitted drug use
Whilst there is no denying that Heath Ledger was a brilliant actor and with full and utmost respect for his family during this time - perhaps now we can stop labelling entertainers as heros and placing them on pedestals when we're blind to the truth. They are, afterall, human and subject to the temptations of life we all face. Unfortunately some succumb with tragic results but just because they can act, doesn't make them heros.
