GAME REVIEW: `Burnout Paradise' heaven to play
Your car is totaled."Burnout Paradise" changes that with the most dramatic upgrade the series has seen yet. Paradise City, perhaps the Paradise City, judging by the Guns N' Roses track that opens the game, is the setting for this new game. But instead of a series of stand-alone tracks, you get one huge open city inviting you to drive anywhere, do anything. The freedom is exhilarating, and exactly what the series needed. There will be some naysayers who liken the new "Burnout" to past "Need for Speed" games, and, at first, that might seem a fair assessment. And then you start driving. And racing. And crashing. And smashing other cars. There are still many race and stunt challenges to be found in Paradise City, roughly 120 of them scattered from the waterfront/downtown core in the southeast to the ranches and windmill farms up in the mountains that embrace the huge territory to the north and west.Starting an event is just a matter of stopping at any light-controlled intersection and pressing two trigger buttons simultaneously. When you begin a race event, the narrator/DJ chimes in and points out the finish line on a city map.
Years of ’beautiful tapestry’
And of course, we who are still here continue stitching and weaving and working at this fabulous loom," Tomas said. Christ the King Church is a Catholic church located on the corner of Puunene and Wakea avenues. It began as an outpost of a now defunct parish in Puunene and has since become one of the largest Catholic parishes on Maui with hundreds attending Mass on a weekly basis. Tomas could not provide figures on the number of parishioners attending the church today, but he did note it far exceeds the estimate of approximately 60 Catholics when the parish was first contemplated. Christ the King will mark its 75th anniversary on Nov. 25, with Bishop Larry Silva presiding over Mass at 10 a.m. The Mass will be followed by a program and a feast in the church hall. Entertainment includes a re-enactment of the history of the church by students at Christ the King School.

David Einstein: Donated XO laptops come loaded
Q: The nonprofit organization One Laptop Per Child is advertising a program that lets you donate a computer to a child in a developing country and also get one for your own child (or yourself), all for $400. Does the computer have the hardware and software necessary to retrieve e-mail and surf the Internet? A: It does indeed. The XO, as the machine is called, is an innovative laptop that runs on the Linux operating system. It comes with a Web browser, an e-mail program, and software for everyday activities such as word processing and playing music and videos. The computer is about half the weight of a typical laptop, runs much cooler (it doesn't need a fan) and uses far less power, so its battery can last six hours or longer. Its most remarkable feature, however, is a "mesh" network, which automatically connects the computer to any available wireless Internet network, as well as to all other XO computers within range so they can communicate and share files.
SUPER BOWL: Moss has eyes on the prize
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Double teams can keep Randy Moss under wraps, but not much is going to keep him down. Forget that his postseason has just two catches for 32 yards. Forget that he has had to explain why he's been accused of battery by a Florida woman, who filed a restraining order against him a week before the AFC Championship game. .
