Here's a little detail that can sometimes be an indicator of the quality of a restaurant. The next time you're dining out, and you and your companion order different entrées, check out the accompanying side items. More likely than not, the sides will be the same whether you've ordered steak or fish -- maybe potatoes or rice and a medley of vegetables.
That each diner receives the same side item is not an indication of a bad restaurant, especially if those side items are good. But when a restaurant goes to the trouble to pair each entrée with a specific vegetable, it can be an indication that somebody cares enough to pay attention to the little things.
That was one of the things I noticed while dining at Ocean Club, a small and casual seafooder in New Smyrna Beach from the same people who own Spanish River Grill just down the road.
